Washington DC Maternity Session

This summer I drove into DC to spend the afternoon with M + M and make some pictures to honor this time while their waiting on their very first baby.

The pictures, mostly made at home, feel honest and intimate- a peek into the life they have built together- the one they are preparing to welcome a new baby into.

We made the photos slowly, on film, like I always do. They took the dog for a walk. We followed the light and made portraits that felt equal parts tender and powerful. They made dinner, we ate it together at their dining room table. It was a great way to spend an afternoon- I think they felt that too.

A reminder that if you’re wondering what to do for your maternity photos- spending some time capturing the way your life looks right now is as good as an idea as any- maybe the best idea if you ask me.
