New York City Family Photography

At home. Around town. On film.

As much as I love summer, I’ve got my eyes set on fall.

I typically spend the spring and summer on the road (with as much time in the water as humanly possible.)

But the fall always calls me back home, and I like that too.

I get on fewer planes. My suitcase stays tucked behind my bedroom door. I get to have more family dinners, and I love family dinners almost as much as I love an ocean swim…almost.

It's also the season I spend photographing families throughout DC.

Not because autumn is especially photogenic (though it certainly has its moments), but because life has settled back into its rhythms. School mornings. Slow weekends (hopefully). The pace changes.

For the first time, I'm opening my October calendar online.

Choose the date that works best, reserve it, and we'll take care of the rest.

HOW TO BOOK.

I’ll be in NYC on October 17-18 for sessions. Because fall weather is sometimes unpredictable, and because NYC living means limited windows/light, I’ve saved Nov 14-15 as a rain date on my calendar for these sessions in case we need to pivot.

Choose your date and whether you want morning or afternoon spot…

I will follow up within 48 hours to confirm details.

If these dates don’t work for you or looking at it leaves you feeling like you want a bit more - I am available for travel to NYC outside of the above dates for long form sessions. Please reach out here to discuss availability or jump on a call to talk logistics.

This is a 2 hour photo session in the New York City area - Brooklyn, Long Island, Manhattan.

I come to your house to witness the home you have created and the people who live there. We spend a slow morning or a long afternoon together, capturing the nuances of this human experience on old, analog cameras.

50+ images all shot on film and delivered via an online gallery with printing rights.

Can be used for couples, families, maternity, newborn, or body stories.

Cost of session is $1690.

Interest free payment plans available upon request.

FAQs

What should you wear?

More than anything, I want you to feel comfortable and recognize yourself in your photos. Wear something you feel great in and you can move around in comfortably. Natural fabrics with some movement and texture or small patterns are things I’m always going to be excited about, but youre excitment is what we’re after.

For in-home sessions, I always suggest barefeet- it looks more intimate. If you would rather have on socks, consider them beforehand. Gray toes atheltic socks aren’t the cutest.

Also, some people like to start in more pajam/ lounge wear stuff and then switch into a second look. I’m always down for an outfit change.

What do we do during a session?

My sessions aren’t focused on doing activities as much as they are a chance to to hang out for a little while and make pictures the way a friend visiting you might. I’ll never say no to a coffee or a tea. I’ll suggest we move around a little to take advantage of the pockets of light. A walk around the block or hanging out in the backyard are nice, but don’t feel like you need an itinerary.

This is more about being than doing.

What’s the best time of day/lighting?

Depends on the house and when the light streams in. The whole session is on film so we want to work with the time of day when your rooms you want to be photographed in get the most light.

It’s also best to plan on spending around half of the session indoors and the other half outside. We can take it up the road to a local park, outdoor cafe or your favorite place to have a family outing.
